Yesterday, we reported heavily on the trade of Shaker High School graduate Jeff Hoffman from the Blue Jays to the Rockies.

Hoffman was traded, along with Jose Reyes and two other prospects, to Colorado for all-star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki.

Jeff Hoffman's dad, Jeff Sr., joined us exclusively on Tuesday to talk about the trade.

He said that the day had been hectic, but that when he talked to Jeff he was "upbeat" and excited for a fresh start. He also added that Hoffman is excited to bat again, which he will do as Colorado is in the National League. He also said Jeff is "looking forward to the next chapter."

At the time we spoke to Hoffman Sr., it was unclear where Jeff would be placed in the Rockies system, but it has now been confirmed that he will head to AA in New Britain, Conn.

However, with the Rockies out of the major league race, it's unclear how aggressive they will be with future promotions.

Finally, we learned that Hoffman was the key to the entire deal getting done.
