Bobby Valentine has gotten a lot of attention since accepting the manager position with the Boston Red Sox, and that's expected.  ESPN reports that Valentine has gotten the most media attention at the winter meetings so far, and during his session with reporters he made quite the statement when asked about the Yankees.

I hate the Yankees.  I don't want to waste this valuable time talking about the Yankees. This is too valuable.

-Bobby Valentine

The 2012 rivalry is slated to begin when the two teams face each other April 20th at Fenway.  When asked about Valentine, Yankee manager Joe Girardi said that he [Valentine] would add some "spunk to the club" and that he would be a different type of manager than Terry Francona was.   Girardi said that he would be paying attention to how Valentine was managing the club, but only time will tell.
