Since Bobby Valentine was named manager of the Boston Red Sox, he has done his part to fuel the rivalry between the Yankees and the Sox.  He continues to add fuel to that by criticizing Yankee manager Joe Girardi for not wanting to play extra innings on Thursday night, resulting in a 4-4 tie between Boston and New York.

Joe Girardi said that he had used up the rest of his available pitching, and they had a long ride back Tampa.  Valentine wasn't buying it and said that he didn't think it was fair that he warmed up one of his pitchers just to have the game called.  Valentine called it wasn't 'very courteous'.

Girardi was most likely thinking of his players, who have split squad games Friday against Minnesota and Philadelphia.  He most likely wanted to make sure they would all get plenty of rest before the long day ahead, after the long ride back.
