On Tuesday, former Syracuse football head coach Dick MacPherson died at the age of 86. The man who helped build a program for sustained success through the 80's and 90's was held in such high regard by Orange fans from his days on the sidelines to his post-coaching career in the broadcast booth.

The Voice of the Orange, Matt Park, grew to know Coach Mac as well as anyone and he lends his perspective on the man who led Syracuse to an undefeated season in 1987 and who was the defacto mayor of Syracuse in many ways.
