Things just continue to get worse for the Mets....

Sitting at 40-35 and already struggling on offense as they try to keep pace with the Washington Nationals, the last thing the Mets need is injuries to their vaunted pitching staff.

Noah Syndergaard and Steven Matz are both pitching with bone spurs in their elbows, despite Syndergaard's denials after last night's clunker against the Nationals that saw him only last three innings.

From MLB Trade Rumors:

It’s important to emphasize that bone spurs are fairly common and aren’t necessarily major concerns if they do not cause ligament issues. And there’s no indication in his case that surgery is on the table at the moment in Syndergaard’s case. Kristie Ackert does note that the expectation is that both pitchers will ultimately require procedures — with hopes that they can be delayed until the season is over.

Matz's spur is said to be quite painful and there is some concern about him going forward.
