With the Yankees off to an 8-15 start and fresh off a sweep at the hands of the Boston Red Sox, Ken Davidoff of the New York Post has offered thoughts on how to fix the Yankees.

I'll respond:

1. BENCH CHASE HEADLEY FOR RONALD TORREYES

After hitting .250 in 2013 and hitting .243 in 2014, I thought Chase Headley was done years ago. He's a switch-hitter with a good glove, and he's hitting just .156 this year. He is the problem with the Yankees: old and expensive. He's 31 and controlled at a high cost through 2018. Should Torreyes be the starter? No, I like his speed and versatility off the bench. He's hitting .375 through 24 at-bats, but has just two extra-base hits.

2. BE READY TO DEMOTE LUIS SEVERINO

The rookie is 0-3 with a 6.86 ERA, but he needs to pitch. Greg Maddux went 6-14 with a 5.61 ERA in his first full season. Felix Hernandez was 12-14 with a 4.52. They turned out just fine. This is growing pains. Let him throw. If he's 0-10 in July, that's one thing. Don't make the move now.

3. GIVE LESS AT-BATS TO A-ROD, TEX and BELTRAN

OK, but who else is there? I'm all for playing Aaron Hicks in the OF, but I'd do it at Jacoby Ellsbury's expense, instead of Beltran's. Are you ready to move up Aaron Judge? But who leaves?

4. PUT ELLSBURY ON THE TRADING BLOCK

Sure. But, who wants him at that price? The Yankees would need to eat a lot of money, as Davidoff says. I'd still wait this year and make him available this offseason.
