Rick Nick is now officially dumping his blue jacket and putting on a fresh blue shirt. The star forward has been traded to the New York Rangers.

In exchange for the offensive juggernaut the Rangers sent Columbus Artem Anisimov, Brandon Dubinsky, Tim Erixon, and a 1st round pick. Last season Nash scored 30 goals and added 29 assists for the Blue Jackets, who missed the playoffs for the 8th time in the 9 years of Nash’s career. Nash, who had grown frustrated with GM Scott Howson’s inability to put a quality team around him, requested a trade months ago despite having 6 years and $46.8 million left on his contract.

Zach Parise’s departure from the Devils and the addition of Nash to the Rangers certainly makes New York the clear favorite to win the Eastern Conference. The Devils ousted the Blueshirts in 6 games last year to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals.

New York will reportedly also receive a minor league defenseman and a 3rd round pick in the deal.
