With a 7-5 win on Saturday night against the Vermont Lake Monsters, Tri-City ValleyCats manager Ed Romero became the winningest coach in ValleyCats history.

Romero's win was his 128th win in his tenure with Tri-City. He passed Greg Langbehn, who accumulated 127 in his time from 2004-2006.

The 'Cats got down by a score of 5-0 but tied the game at 5-5 in the top of the seventh inning. Two more runs in the ninth inning allowed the 'Cats to take the 7-5 lead they would go onto win by.

Romero has guided the ValleyCats to the New York-Penn League championship series in each of the last two seasons. The 'Cats beat the State College Spikes in the 2013 title series but fell to the Spikes in 2014.

Tri-City is 37-30 on the year and is 3.5 games up on the Lowell Spinners in the race for the Stedler Division championship.

The 'Cats defeated the Brooklyn Cyclones on Sunday in Game 1 of a three-game set.
