Schalmont senior Greg Musk and Hoosic Valley junior John Rooney were named New York State Baseball Players of the Year when the all-state teams came out last Thursday.

Musk helped lead the Sabres to the Class B state title, going 10-0 on the mound with a 0.39 ERA. He hit .370 and added 38 runs scored and 18 stolen bases.

He will attend Hudson Valley Community College in the fall.

For Rooney, the Class C Player of the Year award was his second of the year. Having already won the Class C Basketball Player of the Year award, Rooney hit .448 with 29 RBIs. He also had 11 wins for the Indians with a 0.51 ERA and helped lead HV to the state title.
