County Waste has partnered with us to honor those in our communities who are truly making a difference.

All throughout 2015, we will be recognizing one “hero” per month based on their inspirational feats, work helping their neighbors and every day passion.

This month’s hero is Jim Scott from Rotterdam.

Shortly after Superstorm Sandy, Jim went down to Long Island to help the homeowners of storm-ravaged properties. So inspired by the devastation he saw and his desire to help, when Jim returned to the Capital Region he got together with some of his Hibernian brothers and formed a local organization, Boots on the Ground (B.O.G.) to assist people whose homes were damaged in natural disasters. The group works closely with the American Red Cross and veterans assistance organizations to support teams across the country working toward the same mission.

Jim is a machinist by occupation.

Check out our video for Jim and see how you can nominate a hero next month, when we will be honoring local coaches.
