The RPI baseball team moved another step closer to the ultimate goal of advancing to the Division III World Series in Appleton, Wisc. by beating SUNY Old Westbury, 12-2, on Thursday night.

After beating Keystone 2-0 on Wednesday, the big win was a nice relief for the Engineers.

RPI scored first, putting up a run in the second. Old Westbury countered, tying the game in the third before RPI put up two more in the fourth to take a 3-1 lead. But the home squad scored in the bottom half to make it 3-2, but from there, it was all RPI.

The Engineers scored nine unanswered runs, using a big five-run fifth inning to take total control. They'd add an insurance run in the seventh and three in the ninth.

Jared Jensen went 3-5 with two RBIs, Tim LeSuer went 3-5, Nick Palmiero went 3-4 with two RBIs and Jason Ramos also had two RBIs in the win.

RPI will take on No. 1 Cortland State today at 4:30 p.m.
