RPI and Union have already had two rivalry games on the ice this year, with RPI winning both, and now the two schools take to the gridiron.

It's the last game of the regular season as RPI (7-2) travels to Schenectady to take on Union (0-9) in the latest edition of the "Dutchman Shoes Trophy" rivalry game.

This game has meaning locally but also has significance in the Liberty League standings: From RPIs website...

The Engineers are tied with St. Lawrence University for first place in the league standings. Should Rensselaer win and the Saints lose in next week's season finales, RPI wins the league championship and an automatic bid into the NCAA Playoffs. If both teams win St. Lawrence will have the automatic berth based on its win over RPI (24-21). If both teams lose and Hobart College wins, the Statesmen will represent the league in the NCAA Playoffs.

I spoke with RPI head coach Ralph Isernia this morning about the rivalry, the keys to the game and RPI product Andrew Franks, who is the current kicker for the Miami Dolphins.
