It's only been one year but with Russell Martin, it feels like he has been a Yankee for years now.  His one year contract is up, but he tells ESPN NY that he wants to be back in pinstripes.

According to ESPN NY's Andrew Marchand, Russell Martin wants to be back in New York next season.   Martin is arbitration eligible, so right now it's up to the Yankees to make a move on it.   It wouldn't be surprising to see Martin back as a Yankee since he was loved by manager Joe Girardi for both his offense and defense.

It is the same situation I was in with the Dodgers last year. Now, it is up to the Yankees to make a decision. For me, I would like nothing more than to be here.

-Russell Martin

The problem for Martin is Jesus Montero who could spend time next year DHing and catching which will interfere with Martin's playing time.  He made $4 million last year in New York and if he comes back he should be getting a nice pay bump.
