After faultering in the 9th inning on Wednesday, the Yankees came back to take the series with the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night with a 5-3 win.

The game saw a great potential pitching matchup with CC Sabathia taking on David Price. The Rays would get to CC early with a run in the first two innings, although both runs were unearned. The Yankees would tie things up in the bottom of the 2nd thanks to a Curtis Granderson solo Home Run and an RBI single by Chris Stewart.

Both pitchers would settle down for the next few innings until the Yankees started to get to Price in the 5th. Robinson Cano would blast a 2-run Home Run and Andruw Jones would score A-Rod with an RBI double.

Sabathia was superb thoughout the game going 8 innings allowing 2 unearned runs on 7 hits with 10 strikeouts and 1 walk.  CC's pitch count was 119 pitches with 81 being strikes. Rafael Soriano would take care of the 9th inning giving up a run but got the job done.

Derek Jeter also had an impressive stat in the game as he recorded his 10,000th career at-bat in the sixth inning.

The Yankees will start a 3 game series Friday night as the Seattle Mariners visit Yankee Stadium. Hiroki Kuroda will take the mound for the Bombers taking on Felix Hernandez for the Mariners. Check out all the action on 104.5 The Team ESPN Radio with the Pre-game at 6:30 and the first pitch at 7:05.
