Despite a valiant effort, the Siena men's basketball team could not overcome the Iona Gaels in the semifinals of the MAAC Tournament at the Times Union Center on Sunday night.

The 81-70 loss ends the Saints NCAA Tournament hopes but does not necessarily end their season:

Much like UAlbany, Siena should have potential suitors in the CBI, CIT or Vegas16 Tournaments.

The Saints won the CBI two years ago when they beat Fresno State. The Siena women lost in the CBI final a year ago to Lafayette.

The Saints had no answer for Iona star AJ English, who scored 29 points on 9-19 shooting. It seemed like every time the Saints got close, there was English to make a big shot.

Isaiah Williams also had 23 points for the Gaels after hitting three three-pointers.

For Siena, they had four players in double-figures. They were led by freshman Nico Clareth, who had 18. Brett Bisping added 16 points.
