After a crushing loss on Friday night, the Siena College baseball program earned its first-ever NCAA tournament win on Saturday afternoon before being eliminated on Sunday.

The Saints fell to Texas Christian, 2-1, in 11 innings in their opening game in the Fort Worth Regional. Siena then overcame an early 7-0 deficit on Saturday before rallying to beat Dallas Baptist, 9-8, in 10 innings.

Neil Fryer threw nine innings in relief, allowing just six hits and one run. Vincent Citro had two hits and two RBIs while John Rooney added two RBIs as well.

Siena was eliminated on Sunday by Sam Houston State after losing 9-2.

Siena finishes the year at 27-33, quite an accomplishment for a team that began the year 0-17 and rebounded to win the MAAC Conference tournament and the program’s first-ever tournament game.
