From Columbia High School to the University of Maryland to Toronto Blue Jays prospect, Kevin Smith might be the most pleasant "surprise" in the organization's farm system. We use the quotations around surprise because Smith was drafted at the same position as the Blue Jays' first round pick in 2017, shortstop, and has far outplayed his competition.

Smith showed the potential for pop in his bat while at Maryland, but his home run numbers through Class A Lansing and now Class A Advanced in Dunedin fit the growing expectations at the major league level. At one of the most important positions on the field, Smith always showed the ability to make difficult plays look routine and with his stolen base numbers in 2018, Smith has the makings of a five-tool player.
