Shen Big Men Earn Athletes of the Week

How do you follow up winning a New York State Class AA State Championship? You could just sit on your hands all summer and expect to win again because you won last year, or because you return Kevin Huerter to your rotation.

But such is not the case for the Plainsmen of Shenendehowa. Coach Dzikas and his staff will never allow their players to get complacent, and his team is already back in the gym.

The Shen Summer League is one of the best in the area and attracts top Section II teams. In addition to just playing games though, Shen has its big men working out with former Schenectady/University of Texas star James Thomas.

Thomas led Schenectady to a state title in 1997. He also helped lead Texas to a final four in 2003.

He's been back in the area all summer and is playing the CDBA league at Hudson Valley as well.
