It's been a great year for local athletes on the gridiron. From Josh Keyes (Chatham) signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and then the Kansas City Chiefs, to Dion Lewis (Albany Academy) starring with the New England Patriots to Jordan Canzeri leading Iowa to an unbeaten record thus far, we continue to find great local stories.

Buss, a freshman at Robert Morris, had eight catches for 160 yards last week in the Colonials game against Central Connecticut State.

As a result, he was named Northeast Conference Freshman of the Week. He was also one of three players to get Honorable Mention for National Freshman of the Year.

Buss now has 34 catches for 523 yards on the year. His 34 catches with three games left in the season tie him for the freshman record at Robert Morris. His 523 yards rank him third among FCS rookies in receiving yards this season.

His 160 yards last week are the most in any game in the Northeast Conference this year by a non-senior. It's also the highest total by an NEC rookie since at least 2007.
