On Thursday, both Siena Basketball teams have a chance to boast the MAAC Player of the Year. Junior forwards OD Anosike of the men's team and Lily Grenci of the women's team have been named to the All-MAAC First Teams and are eligible to named the MAAC Player of the Year. Additionally, men's freshman Evan Hymes was selected to the All-Rookie Team, while Cristina Centeno earned Third Team honors on the women's side.

By virtue of their selections to the First Teams, Anosike and Grenci are eligible to be named the 2011-12 Pepsi Max Player of the Year. Hymes is also eligible to be named Rookie of the Year when all major award winners are announced at the MAAC Postseason Awards Show held on Thursday, March 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass.

Anosike currently leads the nation in both rebounding (12.9) and double-doubles (22) and earlier this season posted 17 straight double-doubles - the second longest streak in Division I in the past 15 seasons. He ranks ninth in the MAAC in both scoring (15.1) and blocks (1.1) and is fifth in field goal percentage (52.2%).

A tri-captain, Grenci has had a breakout year for the women's team. She currently ranks second in the MAAC in scoring (15.4) and fourth in rebounding (7.7). The only player in the conference to score in double figures in all 18 MAAC games, Grenci has scored in double figures in 19 straight games overall and scored nine points or more in 26 of 27 games this season.

A four-time MAAC Rookie of the Week - the most of any of the conference's freshmen - Hymes ranks in the top-20 nationally in freshman scoring. He's 12th overall in the MAAC in scoring (13.9) and ranks tied for fourth in assists (3.4) while leading all conference freshmen with 58 threes.

Centeno ranks second on the women's squad in scoring (10.8) while placing fifth in the MAAC averaging 3.7 assists. A senior tri-captain, Centeno also ranks amongst the conference leaders in steals (T-7th - 2.0) and assist-to-turnover ratio (9th - 0.91).

The Siena men and women are both seeded sixth and both play the No. 3 seed Manhattan in the MAAC Championships this weekend in Springfield. The women play at 11:30 a.m. Friday, while the men tip at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday in quarterfinals action.
