Shenendehowa graduate Murphy Smith earned the win yesterday for the Dunedin Blue Jays, the Class A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Smith went five innings for the Jays against the Cardinals affiliate, surrendering one run on two hits. He walked none and struck out six. The Jays won 5-1.

Smith is now 5-3 on the season with a 3.14 ERA. The former Section II standout joined the Blue Jays organization after being released by the A's late in Spring Training.

On Tuesday, Shaker graduate and 2014 first-round draft pick Jeff Hoffman took the loss for Dunedin.

He lasted 5.2 innings, giving up three runs and striking out just one.

Hoffman is now 1-2 with a 4.40 ERA as he makes his first professional starts. He didn't pitch professionally last season after undergoing Tommy John Surgery just weeks before the MLB Draft.

There's no timetable for a call-up to AA for Smith or Hoffman, but Smith could be inching closer as he pitches well out of the rotation.
