Sports Legend Nominated For Academy Award

Earlier this morning the 2018 Academy Award nominations were announced. NBA all time great Kobe Bryant received a nomination for his animated short category. Bryant's film was a collaboration with artist Glen Keane and composer John Williams on "Dear Basketball." Bryant responded to his nomination with this message on Twitter.

Kobe Bryant was not the only former athlete garnering recognition at this year's awards. The film I, Tonya which details the 1994 attack on American figure skater Nancy Kerrigan by Tonya Harding and her associates received three nominations. Margot Robbie scored an nomination for Best Actress for her portrayal of Tonya Harding. Allison Janney is considered a front runner by many to win for her nomination in Best Supporting Actress for her role as Tonya's mother Lavona Golden. The film also picked up a nomination for Best Film Editing. This year's Academy Awards ceremony will air March 4th on ABC.
