The New York Giants have had a pretty decent free agency period as they addressed many of the team's needs, thus far.  However, there is one gaping need that the Giants have yet to attend to and that is their secondary.

The loss of Antrel Rolle to the Giants secondary is huge.  Not only was he fantastic on the field at times, but he was undoubtedly the vocal leader of that defense.  With 9 interceptions over the last two seasons, it's going to be difficult to replace him now that he has signed a 3-year/$11.25M deal.

Where could the Giants look to replace such a key piece?

First and foremost, free agency is where they would like to address the need first.  Former Kansas City Chiefs safety Ron Parker is the guy on the market that the giants have kept their eye on as a potential replacement, however, Parker may join Rolle in Chicago as he is to visit the Bears in the upcoming days.

The other option, which is definitely the team's "Plan B" is to pick up a safety in the NFL draft.  If the Giants do not re-sign Stevie brown in the next few days and are unable to pick up Parker, expect them to really consider drafting former Alabama safety Landon Collins.  Although drafting an offensive lineman may be the right move, the Giants may be scrambling last minute to give defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo a secondary that isn't made up of inexperienced players.

If the Giants defense is to return to the prior defense Spagnuolo put together in his past stint with New York, the team better get him secondary help or else they will be exploited in the passing game.
