After being released by the Minnesota Twins in the middle of June, Spa Catholic graduate Tim Stauffer has signed on with the Sugar Land Skeeters.

The Skeeters compete in the prestigious Atlantic League and are managed by former major leaguer Gary Gaetti.

Roger Clemens has pitched for the Skeeters -- as did former NBA star Tracy McGrady.

Stauffer was 1-0 with a 6.60 ERA this year for the Minnesota Twins. He played nine years with the San Diego Padres, having success as both a starter and a reliever.

He's 33-34 for his career. He has a career 3.94 ERA and is still just 33-years-old. I wouldn't be surprised if this is just a detour on the way back to the major leagues. A number of teams could use an arm with experience out of the bullpen for the second half of the year.

Regardless of what happens, we wish Stauffer the best of luck. Keep on representing the 518!
