'Shark Week' just happened two weeks ago on TV, but it happened in real life on Sunday afternoon in South Africa when professional surfer Mick Fanning escaped a shark attack, captured LIVE on video.

"I was just sitting there," said Fanning. "I was just about to start moving. And then I felt something grab ... like got stuck in my leg ... I jumped away. It kept coming at my board and I was kicking and screaming.

"I just saw a fin. I didn't see the teeth. I was waiting to see the teeth to come at me while I was swimming."

So, everybody, take notes at home for how to deter sharks:

"I punched it it in the back."

The 2015 Samsung Galaxy World Surf League Championship Tour had just begun their final round whenever it was decided that the tournament would be canceled.

The commissioner later confirmed that there were actually two sharks spotted in the water, attacking Fanning.

"This is the first time in professional surfing history," Renato Hickel, WSL Deputy Commissioner. "Nobody has ever experienced a situation like that where a surfer is tackled by two sharks right when the finals start."
