Today marks the starting point that NFL teams can start to use the franchise tag in order to secure their free agents. The Buffalo Bills, New York Jets, and New York Giants all have valuable players on their team that they could franchise, so who are they?

The 26-year old offensive tackle has been nothing but reliable for the Bills since breaking into the league in 2013. Should he be tagged, his cap number could be roughly $13.7M against the cap. Something the Bills may not be able to handle with having to keep their roster together and sign other free agents to improve their team. The tag will most likely be used if the two sides can't come to a contract agreement by March 1st.

It would be a big surprise if Wilkerson isn't tagged. Wilkerson will most likely require a $15.5M tag when the Jets finally decide to use it on him. Both sides are far apart in their contract talks and aren't expected to come to an agreement any time soon. Neither side has talked to each other since the beginning of the season and aren't expected to later until the off-season.

New York Giants: K Josh Brown

Should the Giants use their franchise tag this year, it would be more likely to be used on K Josh Brown that CB Prince Amukamara. Amukamara would likely cost $14M or more and even though he is one of the steady players on defense, the Giants are more likely to part ways or let the CB test free agency. Brown would not be as much of a hit against the cap. Is it likely the Giants would use the franchise tag? Not really. But could they? Yes, and if they do it will be Josh Brown.
