It was quite a weekend for Schenectady's Casper Wells. The Seattle outfielder homered two straight days as the Mariners took two of three from the Boston Red Sox over the weekend.

Casper Wells is thriving with his new team.  Last night, the Schenectady native had a tie-breaking RBI single in the seventh inning that gave the Seattle Mariners in a 4-3 victory over the AL West-leading Texas Rangers.

Casper Wells continued his hot start with his new club on Wednesday afternoon. The Schenectady had 2 hits to lead the Seattle Mariners to a 7-4 win over the Oakland Athletics.

Casper Wells seems to be fitting in with his new team quite well. The Schenectady native hit a 2-run homerun as the Seattle Mariners defeated the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night, 4-2.

Perhaps a change of scenery will do Casper Wells some good. A week after he was sent down to the minors by Detroit, the Tigers traded the Schenectady native on Saturday. Wells goes to the Seattle Mariners as part of a 6 player deal.

In what Tigers manager Jim Leyland called a painful decision, Detroit sent Schenectady native Casper Wells down to AAA Toledo.  Wells became the odd man out in a numbers game as the Tigers called up left-handed starting pitcher Duane Below.  Below made his Major League debut last week.

Justin Verlander got all the headlines in the Tigers' win over the Royals on Sunday but Casper Wells provided the offensive firepower. The Schenectady native had his first Major League steal and scored the Tigers only 2 runs in Detroit's 2-1 victory over Kansas City.

Casper Wells is making quite an impression with the Detroit Tigers this season.  The  Tigers rightfielder is batting .260 with 4 homers and 12 RBIs. But the Schenectady native is also making some great plays in the outfield.  His catch against San Francisco on Friday was good enough to make ESPN's Weekend Web Gems.

Right now, there are 3 players in Major League Baseball with ties to the Capital Region. So now that we're about a third of the way through the 2011 MLB season, how are they all doing? Here's an update.

Congrats to Saratoga's Tim Stauffer and Schenectady's Casper Wells.  Both Capital Region natives are on Major League Baseball rosters for the 2011 season.
