Yankees’ Leadership Will Soon Be Gone

Bernie Williams and Jorge Posada, two core Yankee players from the Joe Torre era, are long gone.  Mariano Rivera, another quiet leader by example, is retiring after this season.  Andy Pettitte is near the end.  And the Yankee captain, Derek Jeter, won't be back in the lineup until who knows when and is nearing 40.  Leadership used to be a huge piece of the Yankees' winning puzzle.  That leadership is dwindling away.

Yankees Lose On Opening Day To Boston, 8-2

CC Sabathia struggled through his first 5 innings of the 2013 MLB regular season, allowing four runs and walking four batters. His pitching line was just a small example of a painful start to the season, with very few bright spots from the entire team. For the first time since 1986, the New York Yankees lost a home game on Opening Day, going down the Boston Red Sox 8-2 in the Bronx.
