Aaron Boone and the New York Yankees would rather forget this past weekend. Yes, losing two of three to a team that you handled at their place last weekend stinks. But, that certainly wasn't the worst of it for the Yankees manager. When your weekend is filled with questions about your team involving Tommy John surgery, struggling closer, blown saves and a racial comment, it's easy to forget that you have a 5 game lead in the American League East.

The New York Yankees suffered another gut punch from the Boston Red Sox last night at Fenway Park with a heartbreaking 5-4 loss in 10 innings. It's not just a loss to the team you are chasing in the standings, it's the way you lost, again. One out from the celebration of victory, with the Bombers leading 3-1, Yankee reliever Chad Green served up a game-tying double to Red Sox slugger Kíke Hernández in the bottom of the 9th. If that wasn't bad enough, after taking the lead in the top of the 10th inning, 27 year old Brooks Kriske, with 10 big league innings under his belt took the soggy mound for the Pinstripes and proceeded to set a Major League Baseball record, no not in a good way.

The New York Yankees hand will be forced to throw even more youth out on the field. The loss of starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi for the rest of this season and next due to a torn flexor tendon and partially torn UCL, means that the Bronx Bombers will have to turn to the likes of 25-year old Chad Green and 24-year old Luis Cessa...
