2011 NCAA College Football – Week Nine Preview

While much of the college football world is either looking back at last week’s upsets or looking ahead to next week’s #1 vs. #2 matchup between LSU and Alabama, there is still a lot of football left to be played this week. College Athletes Petition to Receive Money from NCAA Revenue

More than 300 intercollegiate athletes are petitioning the NCAA to cut them in on the significant revenue gained from TV sports contracts and reform what athletic scholarships currently cover, the Associated Press reports. Athletes from Arizona, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Purdue and UCLA have signed the petition.

Oregon All-American Cliff Harris Suspended for Second Time for Latest Driving Incident

All-American cornerback Cliff Harris has been suspended indefinitely by the Oregon Ducks after a traffic stop Monday resulted in a variety of citations, including driving on a suspended license, driving without insurance and failure to wear a seatbelt.

LSU Suspends Three Football Players, Including Mathieu

A school official has told ESPN's Mark Schlabach that LSU has suspended star cornerback Tyrann Mathieu and running back Spencer Ware for Saturday's home game against Auburn. The "Bayou Bengals" are the top-ranked team in all polls, including the first BCS Poll of the 2011 season.

South Carolina Dismisses QB Stephen Garcia from Team

Stephen Garcia, South Carolina’s troubled on-again/off-again quarterback, has been dismissed from the team following his latest violation of team rules.

The fifth-year senior started 34 games for the Gamecocks, including four this year. However, he was benched for last week’s game in favor of sophomore Connor Shaw.
