Nearly a full year after Jim Tressel and some of his Ohio State Buckeye players were allowed to participate in the Sugar Bowl while being investigated for NCAA violations, the rest of the team will now suffer from the imperfect punishment system that currently exists in college athletics.

So I’ve had this idea for a little while and I’m finally going to put it into action.  I’ve been thinking about starting a running column, posted whenever I’m moved to do so.  The premise?  That occasionally an athlete or a member of the sports media needs a reality check.  And that maybe I’m just the man to give it.

Ohio State suspended head coach Jim Tressel for just two games. What will the NCAA do?

So let me get this straight, five Ohio State football players get suspended for the first five games on the 2011 season for selling jerseys, championship rings and trophies to a local tattoo parlor owner. Then the head coach finds out about it, doesn't tell anyone - and yet, he only gets a two-game suspension?  WTF?
