- Make sure your references have given you permission to use them
- Make sure your selected references will honestly and positively offer information about your work ethic, character and performance
- Prepare a complete list of references that includes name, company, phone and email information, relationship to you when you worked together
- Have at least 3 professional references available, preferably all 3 should be former and current supervisors a combination of peers and supervisors are OK
