After opening the 2012 MLB regular season with six games in Tampa Bay and Baltimore, the New York Yankees are finally playing their home opener at the new Yankee Stadium this afternoon. The opponent is certainly no slouch: the much-improved Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, featuring free agent acquisitions Albert Pujols and CJ Wilson.

Sometimes I wonder what fans are thinking or if they are thinking before they speak. The latest to face fan backlash is the great Albert Pujols who may become sports 2nd biggest villian after signing a hefty deal with the Angels on Thursday.

The New York Yankees continued to have their offense stifled by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim as Dan Haren pitched a complete game shutout to defeat the Yankees 6-0. Former Yankee Bobby Abreu hit two enormous home runs for the Angels in a 6-4 win against the Yankees on Tuesday night.  AJ Burnett was roughed up to nobody's surprise.  Mariano Rivera gave up the go-ahead, two-run homer to Abreu in the 9th.
