The United States Junior National Hockey team has become a true world power on the ice! The US beat a strong Canadian team in Edmonton Canada this weekend to win its fifth gold medal in the IIHF World Junior tournament. If you were watching the Junior US team Capital Region Hockey fans may have noticed a familiar face caching the team. Former Union men's hockey coach Nate Leaman can add "Gold medal-winning coach" to his resume.

It may be only a month from Labor Day and it may also reach 70 degrees this weekend, but the college hockey season is upon us. Union and RPI, both fresh off of NCAA tournament appearances last season, open their 2011-12 campaigns this weekend...

Union College's first ever trip to the NCAA Tournament didn't last long. The 2nd seeded Dutchmen lost to #3 seed Minnesota-Duluth, 2-0, in the NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey East Regional Semifinals in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

For the first time ever, both teams in the Capital Region make the NCAA Tournament as Union College & RPI will be part of college hockey's "Big Dance."
