I Hope My First Pitch At The ValleyCats Game Tonight Doesn’t End Up Like These

Tonight, the Tri-City ValleyCats will play host to the Staten Island Yankees in a New York/Penn League game.  It's also Hunter Pence bobblehead night as the first 1,000 fans get a bobblehead of the Houston Astros All-Star.

But this game has even more meaning to me.  I'm throwing out the first pitch.

ValleyCats Game Makes for Great Family Outing – My Son’s First Game

There is no better feeling than taking your son to a baseball game.  I got that experience on Sunday night as the ValleyCats played host to the Aberdeen IronBirds at Joe Bruno Stadium.

It was my 3-year old son Zachary's first-ever professional baseball game.  And it was a moment neither of us will ever forget.

Former ValleyCat Hunter Pence Named To NL All-Star Team

Former Tri-City ValleyCat Hunter Pence was selected as a reserve for the National League All-Star team on Sunday.  He'll be the lone representative for the Houston Astros.

This is the second All-Star Game selection for Pence since breaking into the big leagues in 2007.

Tri-City ValleyCats Finalize 2011 Roster

Opening Day for the Tri-City ValleyCats is just a day away and with that, means the Opening Day roster is set for the short-season Class A affiliate of the Houston Astros.

There will be 28 minor-league players in the Astros organization that will begin the summer in Troy as the ValleyCats look to defend their 2010 New York-Penn League title.

Minor League Hockey And Albany

I just checked out the latest attendance figures in the AHL and I noticed the Albany Devils are last in the league in attendance.

They're only averaging 2,818 fans per game.  That's over 600 less than the 2nd worst team - Abbotsford.

Why isn't anyone watching minor league hockey here in the Capital Region?
