The Yankees have finally put an end to the drama surrounding their Opening Day starter. Masahiro Tanaka will start the season when the Yankees begin play on Monday against the Houston Astros at 1:05. The game can be heard right here on 104.5 The Team.

Tanaka, entering his third season in the Bronx, owns a career 25-12 record and a 3.16 ERA. He was lit up this spring though, pitching to the tune of a 6.00 ERA.

Questions surround Tanaka's durability, as he comes in with elbow concerns. He's not the only pitcher on the staff with injury concerns though. Michael Pineda has missed significant time in his career with shoulder problems. Nathan Eovaldi also missed the end of last season and CC Sabathia has knee issues as he also attempts to rebound from an alcohol addiction.

Luis Severino appeared the candidate most likely to start if Tanaka didn't on Opening Day. His youth and inexperience made him a risky choice in my mind.
