The win was the Yankees fourth in a row after losing seven of their previous nine. C.C. Sabathia had a decent outing picking up his sixth win going seven innings giving up two runs on seven hits and struck out four but it was the Yankees bats that made the most noise.

Robinson Cano also had a fantastic day at the plate going 3-5 with three runs scored. Cano led off the second inning with a solo home run, his seventh of the year. Derek Jeter, Nick Swisher and Eric Chavez all had multi-hit games as well.

Oakland Athletics starter and former Yankee Bartolo Colon had a rough outing going six innings giving up six runs on nine hits.

A’s right fielder Josh Reddick homered in his second straight game, a solo shot in the third, his 13th of the season.
