Tennessee’s Pat Summitt Reveals She Has Dementia, Will Continue Coaching [VIDEO]

Tennessee women’s basketball coach Pat Summitt announced on Tuesday that she has been diagnosed with early onset dementia, but that the condition won’t hold her back from the coaching.

The 59-year-old legend, who has more wins than any other coach in NCAA history, eight national championships, and an Olympic gold medal, was diagnosed in May.

“I’ve been honest and I’ve shared my health concerns with you, and now we’ll move forward with the business at hand: coaching the Lady Vols,” she said in a video statement.

Summitt will always be known as the coach who put the women’s basketball on the map. That kind of impact will extend well beyond her coaching days.
