Texas Takes Game One of The American League Championship Series 3-2
The Texas Rangers were able to hold on for a 3-2 win over the Detroit Tigers, and most importantly Justin Verlander to win game one of the ALCS.
After two rain delays that totaled nearly 2 hours, the Texas Rangers came away from game one of the ALCS with the win. Detroits ace Justin Verlander gave up 5 hits in his 4 innings including a home run to Nelson Cruz who ended his post season slump of just one hit. Verlander would give up a total of 3 runs, and that would be all the Rangers would need.
CJ Wilson gave up 6 hits a 2 runs for Texas. He also struck out 6. The Texas bullpen would do a great job of holding a very powerful Detroit lineup to one hit for the rest of the game. Texas now takes a 1-0 series lead against Detroit. Game 2 will be tonight and the Rangers will send Derek Holland to the mound to take on Detroit's Max Scherzer.
