We are 1 week away from the start of the NFL's meaningless but sometimes painful exhibition schedule. Before kick off has taken place the injuries have started.

From Chip Kelly's  1st camp in Philadelphia. The Eagles have lost wide receiver Jeremy Maclin to a knee injury. Maclin tore up his right knee in non contact, 7 on 7 drills.the official diagnosis is a torn ACL in his right knee. Apparently Maclin's knee got caught in the ground and that was that.

Maclin. from Missouri University has struggled with injury the last 2 seasons. He has combined for 10 TD's the last 2 years. The season before those 2 he caught 12 touchdowns and looked to be on the verge of stardom. The plan of having Maclin and DeSean Jackson on the field to help Kelly's wide open attack now get's sidetracked.

Maclin later in the day tweeted out a big thank you to his fans, thanking them for their support and vowing to comeback from this latest setback. Maclin is in the final year of a 5 year deal

Meantime the World Champion Baltimore Ravens already without over a handful of key players from their 2012 title team, announced that Tight End Dennis Pitta will miss the entire 2013 season with a dislocated hip. Pitta was injured in practice when he was competing for a football in the end zone with James Ihedigbo.

Pitta was tied for 2nd on the champion Ravens in catches last season. He and Ray Rice had 61 catches, trailing only Anquan Boldin, who now toils for the SF 49ers.

The Seattle Seahawks are facing a similar injury with their big time off season acquisition, Percy Harvin. No word yet exactly how long Harvin will be out of action.

The Miami Dolphins and the Dallas Cowboys will start the pre-season schedule next Sunday in the annual hall of fame game
