Short on history in its current borough, but long on potential, the Brooklyn Nets are built to be the best NBA team in New York for a long time. Head coach Kenny Atkinson is in his third year and the Nets have improved each season. From 20 wins in Atkinson's first season to 28 wins last year, Brooklyn has already won 26 games and currently sits in sixth in the Eastern Conference.

Nets radio play-by-play man Chris Carrino joined Big Board Sports to talk about the growth of the franchise and the promise that lies ahead with two max-contracts available this summer. Madison Square Garden is the Mecca and always will be, but the Barclays Center is modern and, just like Brooklyn, hip. There's an allure to bringing the Knicks back to prominence for big ticket free agents like, say, Kevin Durant, but there is also something to be said for being the first player to ever do something. Like win an NBA title for the Nets.
