The fireworks are going off-In Minnesota this 4th of July as the Minnesota Wild go on a spending spree they hope will get them back to the playoffs. For the NJ Devils this 4th of July fizzled out like a lady finger.

The Minnesota Wild announced the signing of the now former Devil AND free agent defensman Gary Suter to almost exact 13 year contracts worth  98 million reasons why to go to a non playoff team. Parise leaves behnd the only team and franchise he has ever known. Suter leaves his original team, the Nashville Predators.

Parise was the captain of the Devils and started his ascension through the organization in Albany witgh the River Rats in 2004-05. He is a 5 time 30+ goal scorer. According to Devils GM Lou Lamoriello who makes lying to the media a hobby claims Parise told him if he hadn't signed with Minnesota then he would have returned to Jersey. Lou claims the financially troubled Devils, now run by the NHL put a conpetitive offer on the table but gave no details. Parise tallied a career high 45 goals back in 2008/09 for Jersey. This past season he scored 31.

The Wild put out a  tweet Wednesday screaming the headline " WE GOT EM" in announcing the pair of huge moves by a franchise that struggled last season. The Wild scored the least goals in the entire NHL.

Suter notched 7 goals but his defensive play is at the top of the league. Nashville Preds GM David Poile seemed almost bitter in saying about his clubs offer " It would be an understatement to say the Preds are disappointed at this time. Actually not disappointed but very surprised".

Both Nashville and New Jersey made the playoffs this past season. Nashville got knocked out in round 2 by Phoenix while Jersey made it all the way to the Cup finals before losing in 6 to the champion LA .Kings
