The End For Posada?

Well it seems the former Yankee fearsome foursome  has been halved. According to ESPN.com Jorge Posada will announce in short order his retirement from Major League Baseball. For 17 years Posada  helped lead the Yankees to 4 World Series titles. Posada's apparent retirement leaves 2 members that formed the core of those Yankee championships they being Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera. Andy Pettite the 4th member retired  after the 2010 season.

While Posada  doesn't seem to have the numbers to enter the baseball Hall of Fame he certainly will be honored by the Yanks to their team HOF. Putting aside those 4 rings Posada's individual accomplishments and steady  and clutch  career make him a lock for team immortality. Only Posada and Yogi Berra to have 30 homeruns in a season from the catcher position. he is a 5x All Star and no catcher was as productive with the bat from 2000-2011 as Posada leading all back stops in HR's, RBI, and hits.

Posada was a 24th round draft pick in the 1990  draft. His finest all around offensive season was 2007 when he smacked  20 long flys, drove in 90 runs and had 170 hits. Posada  ran into some issues with Yankee fans and manager Joe Garardi when he pulled himself out of a game earlier in the past campaign and seemed to have a strained relationship with the skipper from then on. If published reports are to be true Posada tried to shop his services to the Mets this off season but to no avail.
