It seems the NY islanders have finally started to recognize their core base of young talent and are intent on keeping that core together..

The Isles have re-upped center Josh bailey to a new 5 year contract. The deal is said to be worth 16.5 million dollars.

The Islanders are trying to build on their solid finish last season, including making the playoffs for the 1st time in 8 years. They gave the Penguins all they could handle in the 1st round before losing in 6 games.

Bailey started out like the team last year, slow, but came on fast at the end.  In the shortened season due to labor issues, Bailey finished with 11 goals.

Bailey is like many of the islanders top players, young and skilled. he is only 23 years old and has 139 points in his career in a total of 329 games.

The Islanders hope to build on their solid season this year before moving into the Barclay's center for 2015.
