The Knick Tailspin Continues.
To think it was only a few games ago the Philadelphia 76ers not only snapped a losing skid but also a 20 game streak of not scoring at least 100 points. Heck if they played the Knicks more often they wouldn't score under 100. The 1st place 76ers came to MSG and shot the Knicks to defeat 106-94.
Much like an NBA all star game the Knicks didn't D-Up until the 4th quarter after giving up 89 points through 3 qtrs. To the team that went 20 games without going over 100!
Going into that 4th stanza the Knicks trailed 89-73. They made a token run to make the score respectable and they did it with Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony on the bench. Can you say message?
Philly shot 51% from the field and 55% from the 3 point area. Lou Williams was unstoppable pouring in 28 off the bench. Evan Turner added 24.
The Knicks have now lost 5 straight and in the last 4 they have been down big margins before making a stand. The slumping Stoudemire had a scant 9 points and 4 boards. The Knicks are looking for their big free agent addition from last year on the back of milk cartons. Amazingly Anthony had not 1 field goal after the 1st quarter!
Just 2 weeks ago the Knicks looked on the werge of making a move on 1st place..Well forget that as the deficit has grown to 6.5 games behind the hustling 76ers. Anthony admitted as much as the Knicks are soft saying " We had no type of confidence out there".
That's a damning statement considering the Knicks have 3 max salary players. They are atleast supposed to respond to challenges. They aren't!
