With the New York Knicks whiffing on free agents left and right this offseason, they may be looking to swing for the fences one more time before the NBA season rolls around. Reports have surfaced that the Knicks could be looking to land Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio in a trade.

Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe originally reported that the Timberwolves were considering trading the Rubio who signed a four-year, $55 million-plus contract extension last season due to impatience with his improvement. Rubio, hasn't shot higher than 38% in his four seasons in the NBA, but there's no doubting his skill at the point guard position are elite. He is regarded as one of the best passers to ever play, and has ranked in the top 5 in steals, in his first three seasons.

The Knicks failed to attain a top tier point guard after failing to sign Eric Bledsoe, Goran Dragic and Patrick Beverley. This could be a good move for the Knicks Rubio who is still only 24-years old, would have no problem beating out the Knicks Langston Galloway and Jerian Grant.  Rubio may not be the best shooter, but when you have Carmelo Anthony and Aaron Afflalo , there may not be enough shots to go around anyways.
