Things are very good in Knick-ville these days. Even without Kenyon Martin and others the Knicks won in Oklahoma City Sunday afternoon 125-120 and have now won 12 straight, 6 sht of the franchise record.

Again Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith led the way, however this time Anthony terrorized the Thunder on the glass, pulling down 9 offensive rebounds and finished with 36 points. Smith tallied 23 but hit the 2 biggest shots of the game, a pair of 3's that kept the Thunder rally at bay.

The win was the 50th this year for the Knicks, the 1st time since 1999-2000 they have hit the 50 win mark. More importantly the victory gave them a 2.5 game lead on the Indiana Pacers in the race for the #2 seed, critical if you want to avoid the Miami Heat until the Eastern Finals if you get that far.

Virtually every Knick contributed to this win. The bench besides Smith was huge. Chris Copeland, a scoring machine had 15. Jason Kidd knocked down 4 shots from 3 point land and grabbed 6 rebounds. The Knicks had 19 offensive rebounds against the defending western conference champions. The Thunder lost for only the 6th time on home court this year.

Russell Westbrook led Oklahoma City with 37. Kevin Durant who is trying to hold off Carmelo for the scoring title chipped in 27.

The Knicks all time  record for consecutive wins dates all the way back to 1969-1970 when they peeled off 18 straight that year. They also happened to win the NBA championship that season. In 93-94 New York won 15 straight. This 12 game streak is the 3rd longest in Knick history.

The Knicks have a chance to break that all time mark as they have 6 regular season games left before the playoffs start either  April 20th or 21st.

Looking at the schedule and depending how head coach Mike Woodson plays it if the team is able to clinch the 2nd seed will determine more then likely how Woodson uses his roster. Next up is Tuesday night at the Garden against the Washington Wizards. After that  it is at Chicago, at Cleveland. home to the Pacers. at Charlotte and they close by hosting the Atlanta Hawks on April 17th.
