ESPN continues to be a must have for college basketball fans and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference realizes that. In furthering their relationship the MAAC announced that their preseason awards show will be carried live on ESPN3 on November 9.

Last year the MAAC caught plenty of national attention with the high quality play of Iona and Loyola (MD), both of whom qualified for the NCAA Tournament. The league also featured the nation's top rebounder in Siena College big man OD Anosike.

Previously the awards program was available to only some invitees and media. Now, according to MAAC commissioner Rich Ensor, over 73 million people via ESPN will be able to view more of the conference including the awards program.

"The MAAC preseason awards show are the next step in the evolution  of the league's relationship with ESPN3. The opportunity to showcase the leagues men's and women's basketball  to a national audience builds upon an event that was limited to media and a few guests and now reaches into the homes of over 73 million people via our relationship with ESPN," Ensor said.

The awards show will begin at 8:15 p.m. live from the Hynes Athletics center which is located on the campus of Iona University. The Gaels won last year's regular season MAAC championship before losing to BYU in the "First Four" in Dayton. Loyola Maryland won the conference tournament but then lost in the second round of the NCAAs.

Siena, the MAAC's local representative, starts play November 9 against the University of Vermont.
