After allowing a few defensive lineman to escape their roster and thus depleting their from their strongest position the NY Giants dip into the free agent pool and come up with a large man, defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins who last played for their division rival the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Giants who cut Chris Canty a few weeks ago and have seen other defensive lineman leave in the past year spend a modest amount on Jenkins, inking him to a 3 year deal for 8 million for the big defensive tackle whom they hope can fill a void and help a poor run defense. The deal includes a 2 million dollar signing bonus and 3 mill guaranteed.

The G-Men finished 25th against the run in  2012 and hope Jenkins performs better then he did in Philly where he spent 2 years after signing with the Eagles during their free agent spending frenzy 2 years ago. Jenkins got a 5 year deal from the Eagles at the time for 25 million but was purged from the roster 2 weeks ago.

Jenkins is 32 years old. He is durable. he started all 32 games for the Eagles over the past 2 years, recording 9.5 sacks in that time, including 4 last season. he isn't a big time sack guy as his numbers indicate. Over 9 years Jenkins has 32.5 sacks. However Jenkins strength has always been against the run. Last year the Giants allowed over 129 yards rushing per game....
