UAlbany senior standout Lyle Thompson had seven points on Saturday night in the Great Danes 15-11 win over Binghamton to move into a tie for the all-time Division I scoring record.

With the win, the Danes also wrapped up the top seed in the America East tournament.

The seven points bring Thompson into a tie for the scoring record at 354 career points. Rob Pannell of Cornell is the only one left for Thompson to pass.

“It is an honor to be up there with [top players], but it is something I honestly do not care too much about,” said Thompson to UAlbanysports.com, “I honestly do not think about it too much.”

The Danes will play at Bryant tomorrow afternoon as Thompson goes for the record.

Thompson was the co-winner of the Tewaaraton Award in 2014, the award given to the best player in college lacrosse. He split the award with his brother Miles.
